Almost 2010

Well here we are almost at the end of 2009 and boy !! what a year it has been. Sorry I have not updated the blog for a while but time tends to run away with you and things get forgotton.

Cole has been to his first show now and I am happy to say that he was placed second in his class and his litter mate Joss was third. Rag has been in season and that has been hard work keeping the boy at bay. They both will be ready for the next show on the 28th 0f December and are entered in two classes each, so it will be interesting to see how things go for them.
We had a little visit from Otto(Dan) and he is doing so well and is adored by his mum Margery. Finn is a regular visitor and we have been loads of walks with him, Kushla and Desmo, Finn is spoiled rotten and also adored by his owners Mo and Dove.

Looking forward to Christmas and the New Year and wishing each and everyone of you all the very best. xxx

King Cole

Hi, Bane is now away to his new home as I was finding things very difficult with two pups. I am happy to say he has went to live with my good friends Mo and Dove with their two whippet x Kushla and Desmo and has settled in well, the bonus is I get to see him often and he comes to play with his brother and mum. Bane is now known as Finn and could not be happier. Cole seems to be coping well with his brothers departure and is a star of a pup. Cole has been atteding ring craft classes and is getting the hang of this showing lark. Mum got 1st at the Selkirk Open show this month but still has to lose a few kg,s in preparation for the champ show in November. Here are a couple of new photo,s . Enjoy x

DOUBLE TROUBLE, TWICE THE JOY

Well the boys are growing very quickly and are holy terrers, but you cannot help but laugh at their antics. Bane the one with most white is now known by the name Finn and will be going to his new home on Sunday the 20th of September. I have been pretty ill during all of this blog and am finding that two pups are just too tiring for me to cope with therefore Finn is going to live with very good friends of mine just 5 minutes down the road and I will get to see him all the time. Cole on the other hand is staying and has been getting taken along to the ringcraft classes and doing well for one so young, look out Crufts King Cole is coming. Mum Rag is doing fine as is all the other pups, I get regular updates from their new owners along with pictures. Cole has his first show on the 5th December meanwhile his mum is back at the showing and has a show this weekend in Edinburgh, fingers crossed she gets something. New updates soon.

THEN THERE WERE TWO

Things are very quiet in our home now as all of the six pups are off to their new and wonderful homes. The pups have been so fortunate with the people that have chosen to love them from Galashiels, Dunbar, Musselburgh,Lanark, Greenock, Aberdeen and here at home. Cole and Bane remain and they are such handsome well behaved poppets. They had a play in the paddock and a little run down the beach today and are now sleeping soundly. The training has now began and both are catching on quickly. Mum Rag has a champion show at the end of this month so has to get in trim for the ring and with any luck she may get a placing to qualify for Crufts ( fingerscrossed ). Her are some pic,s from today.

Then there was six.

Little Pru now known as Isla and Miley went to their new homes this week. Both have settled in nicely and their owners are going to keep me up to date on their progress. Reggie will go to his new home in two weeks leaving two boys and one girl to still find their forever home. Sadly Leo,s new home fell through as it was not the best time to be moving him but I am sure we can find him and his brothers their own homes soon. Cole and Bane are staying with us and I am more than sure they will do well in the ring. Rag has adapted quickly to having less to do with the pups and is bouncing back to her old self very quickly, she has a champion show at the end of this month and hopefully will do well. I will add some photo,s soon.

New Homes

The pups will be getting their first vaccination this week as they will be 6 weeks old on 16th (Thursday). Pru has found a home in Selkirk with a lovely family and their pet whippet Billie (girl) Reg ( Matt) will be going to live just along the road in Musselburgh with his new Mum Nichola and collie cross Brodie, Nichola may decide to show him. Piper will be traveling to Dundee in the near future to live as a pet with Stephen, his mum and dad, and Cole or Leo ( the new mum cannot make up her mind which of the boys she likes best) will be going to live in England and become a show dog. Paige and Bane will be staying in Bonnie Scotland and living here with us. This only leaves Dan and or Leo/Cole but I am sure will will find them both a home soon. Cas and Sasha are still only tolerating the pups but the pups are oblivious and live every day as a big adventure. Mum Rag is not wanting to feed them just as much now but has started to play with them even if it is a bit roughly. All pups are well and I will miss them when they go, would I do it again, well the simple answer is NO !!!!! It has been fun and exciting but tiring and a lot of work (which is not over yet) and each week I breath just that little bit easier knowing that they are still here and healthy. Here are some new photos.

POOPEE,S

The rest of the litter continue to grow and have all been checked by the vets. They are now eating for themselves, pooing and peeing everywhere. You got through in the morning and their pen is like a swimming pool, YUCK !!!! it does,nt take long to clear it up and everybody is fed and contented. They are so comical to watch and can entertain you for hours. Here are a couple of photo,s.

THEN THERE WAS EIGHT

Sadly little Josh had to be PTS on Wednesday the 1st of July 2009 at 26 days old, he had started to take fits and sadly he had became brain damaged. The vet believes that the fits were due to lack of oxygen at birth and therefore the better thing for Josh was to got to sleep. RIP little man.

A fleeting glimpse of life,

That spread a lot of joy,

You touched so many lifes,

Rest well wee Joshie boy.

All going well

Well it is day 11 now since the whuppies were born and they are coming on leaps and bounds. All nine have almost trebled their weight and mum is doing fine. Homes have been found for three and two of the girls will stay with us for 6 months until we can decide which is going to stay. Rag is now leaving them for part of the day having fun in the paddock and going out for short walks plus she is eating like a horse to keep all nine whuppies happy and healthy. Their eyes are still not open but that should happen any day soon, some are even getting of their bellies and using their legs they grow sooooooooo quickly. Here are a few photo,s taken over the past week.

Nine Little Indians

Here are a couple of pictures taken yesterday of the pups. They are all doing very well and gaining weight, Rag is eating well and doing a terrific job of caring for them. It is going to be a tough decision to which girl we are going to keep but which everyone it is, she will be well loved. I would just like to thank everyone for the kind wishes.

BEEN GONE AND DONE IT

I am very happy to say that Rag has given birth to nine healthy happy whuppies, 6 males and 3 bitches. It has been a very long day for her but she has been a model mum and a star. The boys are mostly fawn and the girls have lots of white, still not sure which pup we will keep but time will tell. Here is a family shot and I will update with individual shots soon.

WEEK 9

Here we are at week 9 ....... I can hardly believe i has came round so quick. Rag is doing so well, she has settled down a bit today as I have had the fans on so things have been a lot cooler for her. Her weight is up too 19.6 so she is either have quite a few pups or she is retaining a lot of water. As you can see from her picture she looks well and seems to want to eat all the time which I cannot allow as she may put on to much weight which could make the birth difficult for her. The pen is now set up with a heater plus a fan secured and ready for use, I have also placed a baby monitor above the pen as it is at the other end of the house from my bedroom which makes it difficult to hear if Rag goes into labour, though with any luck she will go during the day. I will add more as it happens so keep watching.

Are we there yet ?

Rag is a bit restless today and has just went into her pen for a lie down, things could be happening sooner than first thought. I have been thinking of pedigree names for the pups and at the moment I am favouring a beach theme as we live so near to the sea and spend most of our walking time at the shore, such as Harbour Master, Pink Coral Reef, and Pearl of Wisdom to name but a few. Pet names I have decided on so far are the characters in Charmed i.e. Pheobe, Paige, Piper, Pru, Cole and Leo may have to think of more boy names though. Everything is in place and I am now just waiting for the big event, friends that are more experienced than I have offered help if needed, the vets number is in my mobile and the car filled with petrol just in case. A very exciting time if not a little bit tense, as long as Rag is OK and the puppies are healthy that is all that matters. Will up-date as things progress.

Not long now

Rag is getting so big, I am feeling so sorry for her as you can tell she is unsure what is happening to her body. Her health is well and appetite good and she is now sleeping in the puppy pen without her crate and a great big bed so she can stretch out. I am getting excited but anxious as my baby gets nearer to becoming a mum but have all the backup and help on hand for the birth and after care. Took Cas and Sasha to a fun dog show at the weekend but decided to leave Rag at home as it would have been to much for her, Cas got fifth in Best Rescue and Sasha third in Sporting Dog. They have spent time out in the paddock as the weather has been so pleasent and sunshine and excercise is good for them. Back down to the beach tomorrow for some time in the sun and moderate excercise, will maybe take the camera for some photo,s.

Entering her 7th week

Rag is now in her seventh week of pregnancy and doing very well. Our house guest has gone home and Rag is a happy whippet as she does not have to wear her muzzle any more. Have not weighed her this week but she getting rounder and the nipples are starting to change colour with the outer edges starting to rise, appetite is good and her belly coat is starting to shed.

Out for a Walk

Took all the hounds out for a beach and wood walk today and took a couple of pictures. In these ones Rag looking swell. It is very diificult to tell a whippet not to run or jump, therefore the halti is on to keep better control of her.
